Aliza wins the spring 2021 biannual Paul Rice Poetry Broadside Contest for undergraduates at CCU. Contest judge, Abraham Smith said the following about Aliza's poem, "To Eat and Be Eaten" --
"Potent vulnerabilities buoy this oceanic effort. Here are lines with Whitman and Larry Levis sweep and scope. Here is a minding and mining of paradox. The poet evokes what it is to be static and stuck while simultaneously sundering that hemming in with lines which threaten to canter over the cliff of page's end. Radiant throughout, the subtle projected verse ending is a stepladder to a supernova."
Edwards College Publications Editor, Sara Sabota, writes about Aliza's accomplishments in poetry during her time at Coastal Carolina University. Embedded in the piece is a recording of Aliza reading "To Eat and Be Eaten."
Aliza graduates suma cum laude from Coastal Carolina University with a BFA in physical theatre.
